Development Leagues

The Development League Program is designed to provide development opportunities for players and coaches at the community level of football, while also supporting the NSFA development pathways for aspirational HHFC footballers.

At Hornsby Heights Football Club we provide footballers of all ages, genders, and abilities the opportunity to play at a suitable level for the individual and their commitment. The development programs provide all players who are looking for a more competitive high-level community football experience, essentially these teams are the Division One teams of the competition, train twice per week, and are required to play in tournaments such as the State Cup, with the option to play in the Kanga Cup which is held in Canberra during the July school holidays each year.

The Development League teams are open to all players at Hornsby Heights Football Club, trials take place in November for the selection

of the next season's teams. Teams are required to start pre-season training in late January.

Since its inception, we have had a high proportion of Hornsby Heights FC players selected to play in the Northern Tigers representative programs.

At HHFC we offer a range of development opportunities for our junior players. Junior Development League (formerly SAP League) now offers both Division 1 & 2 in the U8-U11 age groups. Players are selected for teams in November prior to the season start.

The HHFC JDL 1 & 2 program will run for a minimum of 28 weeks and train twice a week (with and optional 3rd session available). They will receive quality coaching through our development squad program delivered in partnership with Kano Football.

The Diamond League is aimed at providing quality level of competition for girls aged between 10 & 17 years, the league offers girls the opportunity to play at a higher and more competitive level in a community football space. The competition implements minimum coaching standards, while underpinning the Northern Tigers FC representative teams in the NSW NPL Competitions, giving girls who are talented and want to equal development opportunities and pathways in football. The competition also allows girls the progressional pathway to play in the Hornsby Heights FC Women's Premier League team.

Teams train twice per week, receiving quality training through our development squad program delivered in partnership with XLR8. Games are played on a Sunday with all teams required to play in tournaments including State Cup and Kanga Cup.

HHFC are very proud to be a founding member of the Diamond League competition (started in 2014). In this time, we have achieved an incredible amount, matching it with the best teams from the North Shore of Sydney and indeed from around the state.
